Revised M-COMP Grades 1 & 2 Probes Available June 17, 2011
Items on M-COMP Grades 1 & 2 probes have been revised and will be available for download on Friday, June 17th, 2011. These new probes should be used starting the fall of the 2011-2012 school year.
After the release of M-COMP last summer, AIMSweb staff received feedback from customers concerned about three items on the Grade 1 probes that ask the student to "circle the number that is the greatest." Because these items require reading, they may not be appropriate for first-grade students, especially in the fall. Therefore, we have replaced those items with items of comparable difficulty that do not require reading. For consistency across grades, the four similar items on Grade 2 probes were also replaced with computation items that are comparable in difficulty to the items being replaced. These changes do not affect the existing item score values or norms because difficulty levels have not changed.
All M-COMP materials for Grades 1 and 2 within AIMSweb have been updated: the 3 Benchmark and 30 Progress Monitoring probes at each grade, all Answer Key files, and the User's Guide. These revised materials will be available on Friday, June 17th, 2011, and the new probes should be used starting the fall of the 2011-2012 school year.
