Pearson’s aimsweb Launches New Reports Tying Assessment to Instructional Recommendations

Enhanced Reporting for Response to Intervention System Helps Teachers Make Data-driven Decisions

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – December 6, 2010 – The Assessment and Information group of Pearson today announced that aimsweb, the company’s leading web-based progress monitoring and response to intervention (RTI) system, now provides a series of new reports that links aimsweb benchmark data for early literacy, reading, and math to Pearson’s proven instructional programs.

Available immediately, aimsweb’s new reports help teachers place their K-8 students within Pearson curriculum based on assessment outcomes, discover additional Pearson instructional resources available for students at all instructional levels, and make assessment data real and relevant for teachers.

Although aimswebremains curriculum independent, the new reports specify instructional resources available to educators who are teaching with Pearson’s Scott Foresman Reading Street, My Sidewalks on Scott Foresman Reading Street, Prentice Hall Literature, enVisionMATH, focusMATH, and Prentice Hall Mathematics*. All of the reports are fully integrated into aimswebat no extra charge.

The new reports are:

  • Early Literacy & Reading Class Instructional Planning Report — This class-wide report employs aimsweb benchmark data to provide placement and instructional recommendations within Pearson literacy curriculum – Reading Street, My Sidewalks and Prentice Hall Literature – for students in grades K-8.
  • Math Class at-a-Glance Report — This report, available as an added value to any aimsweb customer regardless of the curriculum they use, provides additional information from the aimsweb math (M-CAP) benchmark assessment to give teachers an overview of math performance for an entire class. Teachers can directly link to an individual student instructional planning report to access a more thorough summary of individual math performance.
  • Math Student Instructional Planning Report — In addition to providing a more detailed summary of item-level performance by National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) domain, this report highlights strands that represent a relative strength or weakness and also provides instructional references within Pearson math curriculum – enVisionMATH, focusMATH and Prentice Hall Mathematics – to personalize interventions.

In addition to these reports, aimsweb is also launching a reference guide for SuccessMaker 3.0 Mathematics, Pearson’s instructional software that provides elementary and middle school learners with adaptive, personalized paths for mastery of essential math concepts and delivers outcomes-based data to inform educational decision-making. This guide – available as a PDF that can be downloaded within aimsweb — cross-references SuccessMaker lessons with aimsweb math items and is available as an added value for aimsweb customers who also use SuccessMaker 3.0 Mathematics.

Designed specifically to universally screen and progress monitor, aimsweb uses brief, valid, and reliable measures of reading and math performance for students in grades K-8. The program helps target effective instruction and is curriculum agnostic, helping educators teaching with any learning materials, including those aligned to the Common Core State Standards.

Nationwide teachers and administrators use aimsweb to assess students three times a year for universal screening and to frequently progress monitor students identified as at-risk for the purposes of demonstrating improvement and monitoring the response to instructional changes. aimsweb now also offers screening and monitoring resources for behavior and social skills, grades K-12.
